Five Fall Makeup and Beauty Tips

1. Wear Lipstick. Okay ladies, summer is officially over. Lip gloss had its time to shine, but autumn has arrived and demands more pigmented lip color. It also demands a matte finish to your lips and skin (we will get to skin in just a minute). That means, no more lip gloss, no more lip slicks, no more shiny lip balm. It is time to break out real lipstick – you remember what that is, right? And skip the nude lip, no one looks good as a walking corpse. Opt for red, wine, mauve or plum lipstick. (For the fair-skinned gals who say they can’t pull these colors off, check out the lipstick section of my website Makeup Tips for Fair Skin ). My picks: Black Orchid by Laura Mercier or Thalia by NYX.

2. Lose the shimmer. For those of you who can pull off a shimmer finish in the summer months, get serious and go for a matte finish this fall. Shimmer makes most people look like they have oily skin, and the shimmer can make you look old when it settles into fine lines. Instead, use either a full coverage foundation (like Makeup Forever’s Mat Velvet +) or a lighter coverage foundation (like Clinique’s Perfectly Real Makeup) – both available at Sephora. Top it with a mineral powder, like MACs mineralized skin finish in natural.

3. Keep your highlights. I have never understood why people who look great with light hair go darker in the fall only to look worse. Sport the color that works best on you regardless of the season. Heck, you might want to go lighter! Ice blond highlights are gorgeous in winter, they help add brightness to dull, winter skin.

‘Broads’ to chat sports, Vegas at ex-mayor’s joint

The Associated Press

LAS VEGAS — Former Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman was known to swill gin and bring showgirls everywhere while he was in office. Now, the booze and girls are back as he opens his namesake steakhouse Dec. 15.

Sin City’s colorful ex-mayor tells The Associated Press that Oscar’s steakhouse at the Plaza Hotel and Casino downtown will have the tagline “Beef, Booze and Broads” and will feature good-looking hostesses hired to chat with diners about topics like sports, wine and politics.

They’ll be experts in Las Vegas, he says, and will eat and drink with guests.

“I want everyone to feel very comfortable,” Goodman told the AP. “I want them to drink so much that they won’t even care that the steak is prime — which it will be, I assure you.

“It’s all going to be first-class,” he said.

The bar will feature a “No-bama” whiskey cocktail, playing on a flap Goodman stirred in 2009 when he sought an apology from President Barack Obama for comments Goodman thought hurt the country’s perception of Las Vegas.

Goodman said it’s all tongue-in-cheek — and that the president is welcome at his joint.

“If President Obama wants to come in, I’ll buy him a drink,” he said.

Goodman, who is licensing his name to the restaurant, left office earlier this year as term limits ended his run as the self-proclaimed “happiest mayor of the greatest city in the world” after 12 years. His wife, Carolyn Goodman, was elected in June to succeed him.

Oscar Goodman, a former lawyer for reputed mob figures who played himself in the movie “Casino,” said the restaurant’s “Beef, Booze and Broads” tagline comes from one of his cases in the 1970s.

Goodman was representing three casino executives who were indicted for illegal bookmaking. He said the case involved wiretapped conversations where the executives could be heard talking about dalliances with women around town who weren’t their wives.

The executives decided to plead guilty rather than letting their wives hear the tapes played in public.

“The defendants are in the courtroom, I’m by their side, the wives are in the audience to support their husbands, and the judge says, ‘Oh, this is the booze and broads case,’” he said. “Ever since that time, I figured if I was ever going to have a speakeasy as I dreamt about, it would be called the Booze and Broads speakeasy.”

Adjacent to the steakhouse will be an Italian grill called Simpatico.

Be A Boss

To make a lot of money you need an online brokerage firm

So my cousin was thinking that he could just buy a whole bunch of assets and he would be safe against a recession.  I told him he was insane.  What if someone stole his assets wouldn’t he just be better off leaving everything in a market that had no physical possessions directly tied to it.  Would’t it be safer to trade invisible things that mean money but arn’t really money?  That’s why I told him it was time to think about joining the big boys and become a man and do some Online Trading.  The first step in online trading is to find the right Online Broker to manage your account.  Then you give him keys to your money and allow him to make the decisions like he actually knows what he’s doing.  I’d recommend having them have access to your IRA Accounts and your accounts directly tied to the Stock Trading market you are about to enjoy.

When you’re ready to venture on your own

When you are ready to venture on your own in the crazy world of trading I’d recommend that you get the app for Mobile Trading.  This is the only way you can know up the to the second if you are making the best purchase or not.

Trade smart.

New Principle for a New Principal

He did the unthinkable, but it turned out amazing

So what did he do I might ask?  Well back in the day we got a new principal who we thought was an insane person because the first day he was in office he declared that our school was not up to standards.  But we’ve been doing the same things since the 50s, why do we need to change?  Turns out, he was some business man who turned to the academia life because he wanted to directly help schools.  The craziest aspect of our new principal was the fact that he was fascinated by lockers

One locker for you, and you, and you, and maybe you

I mean you name it, if you wanted it you got it.  I wanted an office locker for all my AP history books and he gave me one, I wanted used lockers football so that I could store my snacks between games.  He gave me lockers metal bands would love to hang around.  I think the principal had a fetish for lockers.  Small lockers, steel lockers, even an athletic locker.  Anyways, I’m just sitting down on one of those old high school aluminum bleachers and it got me thinking and reminiscing of the old times and the better days.

Superior Vocal Health

Superior Vocal Health

Superiorvocalhealth.com

Welcome to Superior Vocal Health. My name is David Aaron Katz. In addition to being a Cantor I have been singing opera, Broadway and popular music around the world for more than 20 years. Through career highs and lows, I have experienced firsthand, the trials of being a professional singer. As professionals we just cannot afford a bad performance. Like it or not, we must always be “on.” Vocal health is the number one priority in our lives so it’s imperative we keep our throats and bodies in the best condition possible. But with flying, staying in strange hotels, often singing every night, along with everyday stresses, well, it just isn’t easy. Inevitably the body and voice break down. How many times have you been sick but said, “the show must go on”? It’s happened to all of us. After years of trying every possible remedy on the market with no success, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I studied hard, becoming a nutritional consultant and herbalist. Superior Vocal Health is the result of my years of extensive research and personal experience. I created Superior Vocal Health to give all voice professionals the best tools to care for their voices – naturally – no drugs, no chemicals. My formulas are designed to restore, rejuvenate, invigorate, and heal a myriad of vocal issues.

These formulas are not a replacement for proper technique, training, or correct vocal care. That takes hard work, commitment, perseverance, and along with regular check ups with your ENT, learning how to “listen” to your body. I use Superior Vocal Health’s product line to maintain and keep my voice in top form. Whether I am performing, rehearsing, auditioning, speaking, or teaching, I always carry the formulas with me. They keep my vocal cords clear, clean, strong, and healthy. And that keeps my confidence high too! Our source of income is our vocal cords so knowing exactly what we put in our bodies is crucial! I spared no expense in my search to find the most reputable and highly qualified manufacturer in the United States. Superior Vocal Health formulas are Certified Organic and produced with the best quality organic herbs in a GMP and FDA regulated facility. Through my own experience and the testimonials of countless artists around the world who use my formulas, you can be assured my products are not only totally safe – they’ll work for you! I guarantee it! Sing well, stay healthy, and enjoy your voice.

Sincerely Yours,

David Aaron Katz

Facebook Joins International Franchise Association

Posted by Jennifer Moire on October 21st, 2011 10:05 PM

Facebook is joining the International Franchise Association, the Washington, D.C., based group announced today.

The move makes sense when put in the context of Facebook‘s recent announcements regarding job creation, economic growth and the platform’s role in helping customers and local businesses connect.

IFA represents 825,000 franchises, and the partnership will enable franchisors use Facebook to find people interested in buying a franchise, all in a secure, online environment.

Facebook’s page creation, ad-targeting and check-in tools are services small business franchisors can utilize to increase engagement with customers and grow a fan base.

We’re guessing that the partnership might have been arranged during Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg‘s visit to Washington D.C. earlier this week.

Spokespeople for the social network had said she met with leaders on Capitol Hill about issues related to small businesses.

The company is putting Sandberg’s experience to good use; she previously served as Chief of Staff to former U.S. Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers, under President Bill Clinton.

In September, the company announced with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce a small business program that would give Facebook advertising credits to a number of small businesses.

Behind the scenes, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has been part of a cadre of Silcon Valley chief executive officers who have briefed President Barack Obama on range of economic issues and job growth strategies important to the tech community.

Facebook’s emphasis on small business issues is understandable since 800 million people are using the site while the global economy is still anemic.

Building relationships with third parties, like the IFA and Chamber of Commerce, is helping the company raise awareness of its work on these issues, and likely deflects some attention from other public policy concerns, as Capitol Hill continues to grapple with Facebook over privacy and security, for example.

What do you think of Facebook’s expanding role in working with small businesses?

In Mediabistro’s online Facebook Marketing class starting October 25, instructor Colin Murphy will show you how to use proven Facebook marketing strategies, build a fan base, and grow your business with an eye-catching, meaningful Facebook presence. Colin is the social media director at SKINNY and has worked on digital campaigns for Lexus, Target, and NFL. Learn more.

I Bet You Can’t Beat Me

I’m the king of knowing who is going to win

What’s funny is that if you are a hardcore sports fan and you don’t bet.  What’s the point of rooting for your team if you have no real tangible steak in the outcome.  Are you afraid that your team will not be as good as you think they are?  Well let me tell you that when it comes to making a sports bet, I’m the king.  There are no that can rival my caliber of awesomeness when it comes to winning at sporting events like football.  If you watched today’s games, I picked Tim Tebow, the next Elway to take it to the house away from the weak Dolphins.  How lame do you have to be to be beaten by the crappiest quarterback in all of football.  How can you not know he was going to run it in for two points to tie up the game?  IT WAS COMMON SENSE.

Where to bet and how to win big

If you want to put your money where you mouth is the best place to bet is Sports Betting Spot.  You can place nfl bets with any number amount of money you wish to spend, as well as know live odds so you can win big.  If you arn’t confident about betting, get out of the kitchen.

Ambassador Hotel Review – qualia Great Barrier Reef

- Naomi Watts,

Actress

Accomplished actress Naomi Watts consistently receives rave reviews and accolades, including a 2004 Academy Award Best Actress nomination for her role in Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu’s 21 Grams. Recently seen in Doug Liman’s Fair Game, Watts will next star opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar.

Review

Loved the experience – the room was magnificent. Incredible peace and quiet. Very private. Wonderful views! Delicious food and wines. Nice, clean and modern décor. Service was excellent. Very helpful and kind people.

The only thing that was difficult was getting in and out of the island – which was weather related. Nobody could be held responsible for that. But the concierges were very helpful in reconfiguring my travel itinerary.

For a jobs bill in pieces, Obama hits road in NC (AP)

Obama is on a three-day bus tour promoting the American Jobs Act. (AP Photo/Susan Walsh)AP – Rolling through small Southern towns in a campaign-style bus, President Barack Obama on Monday pressed lawmakers back in Washington to start taking up pieces of his rejected jobs bill and mocked the Republicans who had shot it down in total. The Senate moved to vote soon on one part, a plan to help states hire teachers, but the proposal seemed doomed.
